The 2014 IMTS: International Manufacturing Technology Show was held in Chicago this September. “The International Manufacturing Technology Show is one of the largest industrial trade shows in the world, featuring more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and 114,147 registrants. The event is held every two years in September at McCormick Place, Chicago.”
Team Leaders of Bowden Manufacturing, Andy McCartney and Wes Holder, had the opportunity to attend the show this fall. Read more for the full interview with Andy McCartney about this years show!
How was the 2014 IMTS?
Andy: “It was a really good show! We had a chance to see our Partners from Bardons & Oliver exhibiting…they had a good booth and a busy show.”
What did Bowden learn at the show?
Andy: “We learned a lot about visual inspection equipment and which systems might suit our varied applications. Our diversity of work requires some diversity of inspection methods, so there were many items and technologies that can be helpful in our shop. We were looking for equipment that could reduce the in-process inspection time while maintaining or improving the accuracy of the measurements. There were several options that we saw that would likely achieve those goals.”
Did you buy anything at this years show?
Andy: “While we did not buy anything directly at the show, we did begin the process in earnest at the show. The result will be a new piece of equipment in early 2015.”
Will you attend the 2016 IMTS?
Andy: “We will definitely go to the next show in 2016. I expect we’ll spend more than one day and we will also bring more Bowden Teammates to the show. There is just too much information to gather and so much stimulation of grey matter to limit it to just two of us!”
