Bowden is honored to have been recently featured in the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Cleveland Chapter newsletter for various contributions. In addition to sponsoring RMH fundraisers and other events, Bowden has been a Room Sponsor for the past three years. Room Sponsors help guarantee a low- to no-cost place to stay for families whose children’s medical care takes them away from home.

Andy McCartney, president of Bowden, is a long-time, active supporter of RMH and sits on the Board of Trustees. The relationship between RMH and Bowden as a whole reflects the overriding company philosophy that, as Andy puts it, “some things are more important than business — like family.”

November – December 2009

Bowden continues our traditional holiday programs with one addition for 2009.

As in previous years, every Bowden employee was offered a Thanksgiving turkey as a gift from the company. However, for the first time, employees who did not wish to receive their turkeys could choose to donate them to families without the means of buying their own. The result was six turkeys delivered to Project Hope and six delivered to the Euclid Hunger Center.

In addition, we’re once again holding a company food drive to benefit the Forbes House, Euclid Hunger Center, and Project Hope as well as participating in the Giving Tree Program for the Beech Brook orphanage. The Giving Tree is decorated with hanging tags, each listing a toy that a child in the foster home has asked to receive for Christmas. Participating employees chose tags from the tree and will donate that toy. When all the toys are collected, we’ll deliver them in person on December 21st.

Our United Way Campaign is also set to kick off again this year on December 10th and end on the 18th. Participating employees have a chance at winning two awesome grand prizes, which include a Kalahari weekend getaway and a Great Lakes Mall shopping spree. Our featured item for participation in this year’s drive is the Bowden embroidered athletic duffel bag, which every participant will receive. We strive to have 100% campaign participation and plan to celebrate it with a pizza party when our campaign closes on the 18th.

The display of generosity from Bowden employees in the past has been immense, and we aim to match or exceed our giving every year. We’re grateful for what we have and happy to share our good fortune with the community.

This award marks Bowden’s fifth Lake-Geauga Fast Track 50 award in five consecutive years. The Fast Track 50 program recognizes the 50 fastest-growing businesses in Northeast Ohio’s Lake and Geauga counties each year, according to sales and employment growth over the past five years. We’re proud to have been recognized once again.
